IPhone 7 vs iPhone SE, which one to choose?

IPhone 7 vs iPhone SE, which one to choose?

How to choose between iPhone 7 and iPhone SE?

It is not always easy to choose between these two models. In this article, I summarised the main features as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the iPhone 7 and iPhone SE. I hope to help you make the best choice possible.

Storage Capacity – iPhone 7 vs iPhone OS:

The iPhone SE is available with a storage of 16GB or 64GB. If you are planning to buy an iPhone SE, I strongly advise opting for the 64GB. As for the iPhone 7, it is available with a storage of 32, 128 or 256GB. It’s a shame that the iPhone 7 is not available with a storage of 64GB because 32GB is perhaps a bit too tight for some users and 128GB a little too big for others. I would say that a 32GB iPhone 7 is good for the basic users. If you plan to keep many photos, movies or install many applications, go with 128GB.

Advantage: iPhone 7

Dimension – iPhone 7 vs iPhone OS:

For people who prefer compact phone, the iPhone SE is the ideal choice. With its 4-inch screen, the iPhone SE can be used with one hand. Moreover, its “square” shape allows it to hold well in the hand. As for the iPhone 7, the latter is taller and thinner. It can be more difficult to use the iPhone 7 with one hand. The sides of the iPhone 7 are round which makes it more vulnerable to being escaped. The iPhone 7 is IP67 certified which makes it resistant to water and dust.

Advantage: Equality

Screen – iPhone 7 vs iPhone OS:

The big difference between the two models is the size of the screen. The iPhone SE has a 4-inch screen while the iPhone 7 has a 4.7-inch screen. Both screens have identical pixel density with 326 pixels per inch. The iPhone 7 stands out with the 3D Touch feature that is activated by pressing more firmly on the screen to activate additional menus. The iPhone 7 also stands out with a screen that displays more accurate and vivid colours.

Advantage: iPhone 7

Processors – iPhone 7 vs iPhone OS:

The Apple A10 processor is the heart of the iPhone 7. It is 40% faster than the A9 processor of the iPhone SE. For “normal” use, the difference in performance is not very noticeable. The advantage of the iPhone 7 is that its processor uses only 2 core with low power consumption for the majority of tasks. When the iPhone 7 needs more performance, two other power cores are activated. The processors A10 and A9 both have 2 GB of RAM.

Advantage: iPhone 7

The cameras – iPhone 7 vs iPhone OS:

Both cameras have a 12MP main camera. However, the iPhone 7 has the best camera because it benefits from image stabilisation and a four LED flash. However, it is especially at the level of the secondary camera that the iPhone 7 stands out. Indeed, the front camera of the iPhone 7 has a resolution of 7MP and allows videos of 1080p instead of 720p. If you’re not the type to take a lot of “selfie”, the 1.2MP of the frontal iPhone’s frontal OS camera will have less weight in your decision.

Advantage: iPhone 7

Touch ID – iPhone 7 vs iPhone OS:

Both phones have the Touch ID feature that allows you to unlock the iPhone using a digital fingerprint. The difference is that the iPhone 7 uses the second version of the Touch ID which is faster. Unlike the iPhone SE, the iPhone 7 uses a “Home” button that is no longer mechanical. To simulate the mechanical “click”, the iPhone 7 uses a “haptic engine” system that emits a vibration when the “home” button is pressed.

Advantage: iPhone 7

Audio and connectors – iPhone 7 vs iPhone OS:

Do not look for the 3.5mm audio jack on the iPhone 7 because it no longer exists. It has been replaced by the Lightning connector. Apple includes a 3.5mm adapter to Lightning with the iPhone 7. As for the iPhone SE, the good old 3.5mm audio connector is still present. Unlike the iPhone SE, the iPhone 7 uses two speakers to provide stereo sound. The sound is also slightly stronger than on the iPhone SE.

Advantage: iPhone 7

Conclusion – iPhone 7 vs iPhone OS:

Even though the iPhone SE and iPhone 7 are intended for two different types of users, it remains that they are both excellent phones. The iPhone 7 being the newest, it has better technical characteristics. For its part, the iPhone SE is more compact and cheaper while offering excellent performance. So what is the best phone between iPhone SE and iPhone 7? Quite frankly, the only reasons why you should opt for an iPhone SE are its compact form and price. For the rest, the iPhone 7 is the best in between.
